The weather and my schedule hasn't been as conducive to Waco flying as I'd like so far this year, but last Saturday (12 May) was a good flying day and I actually was able to go to an event! EAA Chapter 640 was having their monthly meeting at my old home field, Alexander Field (KISW) at Wisconsin Rapids, WI. As you can see, there was a fairly decent turnout of planes at the event. In addition to the Waco there was a Stinson L-5, A J3 Cub, two Ercoupes, and and Extra 300.
The Waco got a workout after the meeting, as several friends wanted to try out the front cockpit. (I'm sure they'd have liked to try out the rear cockpit too, but that's my seat!!) Everyone enjoyed their rides, and a couple of folks tried out the handling characteristics too. All were impressed, and there were lots of smiles at the end of the day.
Hopefully we'll get some nicer weather in the coming weeks so that I can get the Waco out a little more often. Won't be long and we'll be heading for Bartlesville and the Biplane Expo!
